Set-up Pictures

Here is my warp-weighted loom set up in the front yard. It breaks down into two tied bundles plus the warp-seperating bar across the front, the heddle bar and the wrapped beam. The two tied bundles are half-attached, so they just have to be opened up and fastened: the side brace at the bottom must be attached to the front, and the back brace has to cross over to the other side and attach at the top. Then the warp-seperating bar attaches to the front. Careful that one of the braces across the back is bowed and must be on the outside.

We had to replace a couple of pegs and we got one of the long ones on top too short. I hope this doesn't cause any problem, as the long pegs work as the breaks for the beam and keep it from unrolling (which it is want to do).

Feel free to either leave the cloth on the loom or take it off and apply your own. We left it on so you can see how we attached it to the beam. It takes a lot of tying on to keep it from bowing under its own weight.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with it at Collegium. 8-] Be sure to take pictures!
